I thought I would go out on a limb and post something that very few people this side of the Atlantic have likely heard.

The band is called Tindersticks - a three-piece from Nottingham, England who recently released their first album in 5 years, albeit missing three of its founding members. The band has been kicking around since 93’; but I am only now slowly making my way through their discography.

Tindersticks bear a lot of resemblance to Brooklyn’s The National, most notably the disarming baritone of lead singer Stuart Staples. For me, that was more than enough to fall in love with this widely underappreciated group.

Check out the track Patchwork (my personal favorite) from Tindersticks 1993 self-titled album. This song is best described as delicate, yet I think that there is enormous power in its subtlety.

Less is more.

Enjoy.
