OK - so I realize that I’m about three years late in doing so, but I just listened to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s self-titled debut album. I really don’t understand how I let this one slip by me; but I am certainly making up for lost time (and will probably be doing so for the rest of the week).
As is often the case with all of the bands that immediately seem to grab me, I think it’s safe to say that you either love or hate frontman Alec Ounsworth’s vocals. It’s a stretch for some, but would you really want to hear anyone else singing these songs?
Anyway, check out the track Over And Over Again (Lost And Found) below - easily my favorite on the album. I think the last time that I’ve instantly felt this strongly about a song was the first time I heard The National’s Fake Empire. Needless to say, this is a long overdue and a welcomed gem of a song - or as my mom would say, it’s the bee’s knees! (she wouldn’t actually say that; I’ve just been looking for an excuse to say it myself)
I’ve added the lyrics to Over And Over Again (Lost And Found) under ‘comments’ for this post. I think that they might define me at the moment and probably you as well even if you don’t know it yet.
