There are few things in life more difficult than trying to cope with the inevitable comedown that follows any great weekend. A bold statement, I know; but remember, this comes from the mouth of a 20-year-old with little to no real responsibility as of yet.
This weekend was the infamous Queen’s University homecoming. I was privileged enough to play host to the elusive Marc Tytus and Lora Murray (no adjective can adequately describe this girl). I feel inclined to mention that double beds were made to be shared with two or more good friends - don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
In any event, with the exception of a few over-eager police officers who seemed to act more like drunken fools than the actual drunken fools, the entire weekend was nothing short of spectacular - a real gem of a time
While Friday blended into Sunday without anyone knowing any better, I became increasingly conscious of the fact that Sunday is typically followed by Monday - at least in my experience. As friends cleared out we were left with nothing but a sink full of dishes, rooms littered with empty bottles, and our thoughts. It really is surreal when things come to a sudden halt after 48 hours of incessant activity. Back to the meetings, classes, and everything else second-rate.
Check out the track Gospel from The National’s latest LP, ”Boxer” below. It won’t change the fact that something great is over; but it’s the perfect song to lull you to sleep on a dreary Sunday evening.
Stay safe tonight
